Inside the corner bar, the interiors are minimalistic and far from overbearing – the team prefer to focus on two main things instead: good food and even better wine. Giving off friendly neighbour vibes, don’t expect prickly pretentious staff members. And, with that comes one of our favourite wine bars in Sydney, Dear Sainte Eloise. With beautiful bay windows looking out onto Orwell Street, the true standout is their impressive wine list selection with drops hailing from Australia all the way over to Europe and beyond. As for food, you can’t go wrong with their $75 set menu.

Darlinghurst, Sydney, New South WalesTucked down a laneway in Darlinghurst is one of the longest standing wine bars in Sydney. Welcome to Love, Tilly Devine! Led by Matt Swieboda and Nathanial Hatwell, this cosy bar on Crown Lane is devoted to showcasing the best Australian natural wine. As well as this, they partner with small Australian producers to create a sensational menu with the likes of Potato Scallop, French Onion Dip, Kingfish Crudo, Spaghetti Arrabbiata and even Chocolate Ganache all making a mention. Sydney CBD, Sydney, New South WalesAlthough Monopole is technically a French restaurant, we could not put this list of the best wine bars in Sydney together without including them. Part of the Bentley Restaurant Group, Monopole is the brainchild of chef Brent Savage and sommelier Nick Hildebrandt. On top of the menu that’s filled with a fierce selection of classic French dishes, Monopole has made a name for itself thanks to their boutique wine list filled with over 500 (yes, 500) drops. The Duck à l’Orange is a definite must try!

Marrickville, Sydney, New South WalesThe answer is in Sydney’s Inner West on Marrickville Road. Open Tuesday to Sunday, Where’s Nick Wine Bar is a Marrickville institution to say the least. The first of its kind in the area, Where’s Nick started off in 2017 after two brothers had a passion for sustainable farming, small producers and, of course, wine. Fast forward they have gone on to win Wine Bar of the Year before landing former co-owner of Sixpenny to join their team. Beyond the food and drinks, you can also visit their Goblin Wine Shop next door to take home some goodies.
