Mabu Mabu - Big Esso is an Indigenous-owned bar and kitchen located in the heart of Federation Square, on the land of the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung peoples. The name "Big Esso," meaning "the biggest thank you," reflects a deep acknowledgment of Elders and the community who have preserved and nurtured Indigenous culture. The kitchen is led by Torres Strait Islander chef Nornie Bero, hailing from the Komet Tribe of Mer Island in the Torres Strait. Big Esso offers a vibrant space to meet and connect, with communal seating and an exceptional menu featuring Indigenous flavours. The venue strives for a sustainable and socially responsible supply chain, sourcing from First Nations, womxn-led, and environmentally conscious producers.
