Aka Siro

Breaking the stereotype for Japanese food, Collingwood's Aka Siro is a great find. Inside this light space, narrow communal tables face onto an open kitchen where traditional teisheko style dishes are served. Main plates of fried tofu or Japanese curry arrive as a complete meal with Japanese salad, rice and a bowl of warming miso. This may be as satisfyingly close to real Japanese as Melbourne can get.
