2017 Wooded Chardonnay, Black Swan Wines
Crab, lobster, prawns and even scallops; if you thought that your tastebuds weren’t treated enough, this summer you’ll be swept away with the 2017 Wooded Chardonnay. Brought to us by Black Swan Wines, a West Australian estate located only 30-minutes out of Perth, promises tipples to truly showcase the best of modern Australian cuisine. Aged in French oak barrels for six months, this 2017 drop fills the mouth with its fresh combination of stone fruit and marmalade flavours – promising to be the ultimate accompaniment to your summer soirees.
Ombre Gamay 2023, Golding Wines
If you’re looking for some new Australian summer wines to try, the Ombre Gamay 2023 by Golding Wines should be at the top of your list. Tucked away in the Adelaide Hills, Golding Wines encompasses the true beauty and distinct character of the region. And their Gamay is no exception. Vibrant and youthful, this red wine features a juicy bouquet of red berry fruits on the nose. Tickled with a subtle spice, this drop is poised and perfect for enjoying now or cellaring for five years.
Scoring 93 points thanks to the 2025 James Halliday Wine Companion, we just had to include Jack Rabbit’s 2023 Rosé in our Australian summer wine guide. Found an hour-and-a-half drive out of Melbourne, this coastal vineyard overlooks out onto Port Phillip and uses its distinct location to grow some of the most sophisticated cool climate wines. And their 2023 Rosé is no exception. With aromas of strawberry, pear and orchard blossom, on the palate you’ll find a treasure trove of cherry, toffee, apple and citrus.
Chardonnay 2022, Leura Park Estate
When we think of summer, we think of chardonnay. And the Leura Park Estate Chardonnay 2022 is well worth the mention. Using traditional wine making methods, the Bellarine Peninsula based estate boasts an intriguing French style twist – exactly what you’d find in their Chardonnay 2022. Structured and compelling, this drop is vibrant and poetic with its blend of grapefruit, green melon, lime, roasted nuts and even nougat. Scoring 90 points at the 2025 James Halliday Wine Companion, this is a definite must try!
Hailing from Mudgee in New South Wales, 791 Estate is a small-batch, boutique vineyard that boasts a beautiful selection of red and white wines. Self-described as being made with a ‘gentle hand,’ their 2022 Riesling is a delicate blend of white blossom with a slight punch of fennel on the nose. Crisp and citrus driven thanks to the premium fruit grown within the subtropical region, we recommend pairing this delightful drop with raw seafood dishes like kingfish sashimi or oysters.
